Four of our Hurricanes excelled at the 2012 School Sport Australia National Touch Championships held last week in Brisbane, QLD.

Jordan Bowman, Danielle Maltby, Emily Marsh and Karl Raffe, accompanied by mentor Kerrod Hall, travelled to Brisbane to join other student referees from the south-east corner as well as referees from New South Wales, Western Australia and Tasmania, including the current number one female referee in the world, Sam Clarke.

After proving themselves over the first three days of competition, all four members were awarded high ranking games in the finals series.

Emily Marsh was rewarded for her efforts by being appointed to referee the Under 15 Girls Grand Final between Queensland and New South Wales, also ranking her as the number one female and second overall junior referee at the tournament.

Jordan Bowman was appointed to referee the Under 15 Boys Bronze Medal game, ranking him as the number three male and fourth overall junior referee.

Danielle Maltby was appointed to referee the Under 12 Girls Grand Final between Queensland and New South Wales, ranking her at number seven female and twelve overall within the junior ranks.

Karl Raffe was appointed to the Under 15 Boys Plate Final, placing him as the number eight male and fourteenth overall junior referee.

Congratulations must also go to Emily Marsh who was awarded her upgrade to Level Three. This is a big achievement for her after narrowly missing out at the QLD Junior State Championships in September.
